Technology
NEW YORK -- The Associated Press today
named Nick Evansky, director of technology for Associated
Press Television News, vice president and director of operations
for AP Services & Technology.
Evansky has been head of technology for APTN, headquartered
in London, since 2000. In 2003, he also became director of
Services & Technology for AP’s operations outside
of the United States. In his new position, at AP Global Headquarters
in New York, Evansky will be responsible for AP’s technical
infrastructure and its support staff worldwide -- for all
formats.
“Nick’s track record and experience -- television,
digital, international -- make him the right leader to fully
integrate AP’s technical operations globally and for
all media -- including video,” said John Reid, AP’s
senior vice president for Services & Technology.
Evansky joined APTN in 1994. In his role there, he led the
conversion of APTN from analogue to digital and also oversaw
the unification of AP’s international technical groups.
Before joining AP, he held positions at various broadcast
and production companies, including BSB (now BSKYB) and NHK
(Japan Broadcasting Corp.).
Evansky holds a broadcast operations & engineering diploma
from Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, in
London.
