Elliot Spagat named San Diego correspondent for The Associated
Press
NEW YORK -- Elliot Spagat has been named San Diego
correspondent for The Associated Press. Southern California
Chief of Bureau Anthony Marquez made the announcement Sept.
11.
Spagat joined the AP in 2003 in San Diego and has focused
his reporting on border and immigration issues. He was named
the bureau's acting correspondent in June 2006.
Previously, Spagat was a reporter for The Wall Street Journal
in Dallas and for Dow Jones Newswires in Mexico City and New
York. He also was a reporter for the Antelope Valley Press
in Palmdale and began his journalism career reporting for
various news organizations in Mexico and Central America.
Spagat is a graduate of Grinnell College in Iowa and a Chicago
native.
