AP, Ipsos announce partnership for public
opinion polling
WASHINGTON -- The Associated Press and Ipsos-Public Affairs
on Wednesday announced a partnership for public opinion polling.
The AP and Ipsos will collaborate on development and distribution
of twice-a-month national polls, occasional state polls and
quarterly international polls.
"The AP relishes the opportunity to provide interesting,
issues-driven polling content for its members and subscribers
across the globe in conjunction with Ipsos," said Sandy
Johnson, AP chief of bureau in Washington.
"Public opinion today is evenly divided, fluid and fascinating,
reflecting ambivalent attitudes on government, business, consumer
and workplace issues in the U.S. and around the world at a
time when change is turbocharged. We look forward to exploring
the changing attitudes of consumers and citizens with our
new partners at The Associated Press," said Thomas Riehle,
president of Ipsos-Public Affairs.
The polling partnership will commence immediately, with a
national poll on economic and political issues to be released
on Friday.
Ipsos, founded in 1975, is the only independent, publicly
listed survey research company that is managed by research
professionals. The organization is headquartered in Paris
and has operations in 35 nations. Ipsos-Public Affairs, which
operates from Washington, D.C., has been conducting national
polls in the United States since 2001.
The AP, founded in 1848, provides news content in text, audio,
video, graphics and photos to more than 15,000 outlets with
a daily reach of 1 billion people worldwide.
